"Do you have any questions for me?" is a final exam in disguise. Most candidates waste it. The best candidates use it to signal depth, curiosity, and genuine preparation.

The Rules

→ Have 3 questions prepared — assume one or two will already be answered during the interview.

→ Calibrate to interviewer seniority. Ask an analyst about their day-to-day. Ask an MD about the team's strategy and where they see the market going.

→ Reference something from the conversation. "Earlier you mentioned X — can you tell me more about how that played out?"

→ Never ask about compensation, hours, or vacation in a first round. Ever.

→ The best closing question is one the interviewer can't stop talking about. That's how you end on their energy, not yours.
